At the LOGEX Brno office, our frontend developers gathered to combine a casual beer meetup with knowledge sharing. What started as a simple idea turned into an inspiring event full of technical talks, a special guest from London, and great energy showing how a small plan can grow into something that feels like a mini conference.
This July we organized a small LOGEX Brno office meetup of Frontend developers. Almost all of us have gathered to spend an afternoon and an evening together. We planned only to get together for some beers. Then Richard Holaj came up with an idea to hold some knowledge sharing event. In the end these two ideas came together.
Our meetup started with a small round of introductions. Not that we wouldn’t know each other, but we made a nice trip down the memory lane on which products we worked in LOGEX. We had a variety of people ranging from working on 1 or 2 projects the whole time to Radovan Frýželka who contributed to 15 or more projects.
Then we continued with 4 technical presentations. Starting surprisingly with more DevOps oriented session by Jakub Gajdošík, moving to hot topics in Angular – Signals and Standalone presented by Richard and Radovan respectively. In the 4th session Tomaáš Richter. reminded us of performance issues caused by calling functions from templates.
A special slot was dedicated to our special guest. All the way from London, UK, Robert Goliáš had arrived. The first LOGEX frontend developer, now also an architect. A last-minute decision just a few days before the meetup. He made a presentation about our internal LOGEX Frontend Framework that dates back to 2013. But it wasn’t all history. We also talked about the present and the future of this library that we all work with.
After we wrapped up the discussion, we moved to get some pizza and beer. Some continued with unfinished work topics but mostly it was just a personal chit-chat. With a bit of exaggeration, we say that an idea of a beer after work with fellow frontenders turned out to be an international frontend conference. The group energy and vibe felt pretty good, so it’s something that we’ll definitely consider repeating again.
